Why does Champions Events have a Stay2Play policy?
Sarec Sports Travel negotiates group rates across multiple hotel brands and sets aside room blocks near the tournament. This helps teams stay together and gives families access to popular room types, including rooms with two double beds.
Can we book through an internet travel site?
Teams subject to Stay2Play must book through Sarec’s approved tournament hotel blocks, not third-party travel sites. If you find a lower rate, call Sarec at (888) 318-1376 so they can confirm it and help with a possible rate match.
What if our team books rooms separately?
Teams located 75 miles or more from Legends Fields are subject to Stay2Play and must use the approved tournament hotel blocks unless an exemption is approved. Hotel rooming lists may be audited. Booking separately does not remove the policy requirement.
Does a local team have to stay in a hotel?
Local teams within the 75-mile radius generally do not need hotel accommodations. If your team needs a commute exception, contact the tournament director at justin@championsevents.org at least 30 days before the tournament. Exemptions are not automatic or guaranteed. Parents who stay overnight must still use the approved tournament hotel blocks.
Can a player’s family stay with relatives in the area?
Contact the tournament director at justin@championsevents.org to discuss a possible waiver before making plans. A request is not an approved exemption.
How does our team set up its hotel reservations?
Designate one coach, team manager, or team parent as your travel contact. Use “Stay2Play Approved Hotels” on this page to choose your tournament and open its hotel block. You can arrange a team block or direct families to the event’s booking site. Sarec can also help at (888) 318-1376 or reserve@sarecsportstravel.com.
We already booked directly with a hotel. Can we keep those rooms?
Direct hotel reservations do not satisfy Stay2Play for teams subject to the policy. Contact Sarec immediately to arrange an approved block and discuss your existing reservations. Check cancellation terms before cancelling. Without an approved exemption, a fee may apply.
Who handles our hotel reservations?
Sarec Sports Travel is Champions Events’ professional tournament housing partner. Its team coordinates hotel blocks and helps with reservations and booking questions. Keep your booking confirmation and contact Sarec directly if you need assistance.
